Designed in the 1960s to incorporate both residential and commercial uses, Montbello was Denver’s first planned development envisioned to mix economic, social and ethnic groups. It’s convenient location, with immediate connections to jobs as well as transit systems, DIA, and Northfield, remains a plus. With the city’s growth, and particularly Denver’s annexation of the airport site even further northeast, Montbello feels increasingly centrally located. Today it has one of the largest under-18 populations of any Denver neighborhood. With this strong focus on youth, the area demonstrates committed community partnerships to ensure quality health care and public education, beautification, and livability. Locally owned along with national-brand retail clusters primarily around the intersections of Peoria & 47th Ave as well as Chambers Rd & Gateway Ave.
