The Perfect Petal
Boutique blooms, neighborhood blossoms
When The Perfect Petal opened its doors 19 years ago on 32nd Ave, owner Cindy Ollig had lived in the Boulder area and was introduced to the soon-to-be-booming Highlands by friends. Working with niche gardeners, she set out to blend wildly unusual crops of flowers with local Colorado stems to create striking, artful, unconventional floral gifts. The boutique also offers fragrances, soaps, paper collections, and garden and entertaining wares created by area artisans.
Cindy considers her enterprise to be four distinct businesses in one: special events, weddings, the boutique, and the daily floral delivery. As a successful and much-admired business, The Perfect Petal has blossomed along with the Highlands area, which continues to flourish through its own dramatic transition. Young professionals and growing families flock to its historic homes, proximity to downtown, and vibrant retail and community culture. “It’s the perfect demographic for us, really,” Ollig says, although her clients hail from throughout Colorado and beyond.
This hip shop wins hearts with ever-changing store windows and some of the most intriguing displays of floral and home accoutrements in the area. Shoppers browsing 32nd and Lowell love also ducking in for strange succulent houseplants, funky pottery, letter-pressed thank-you notes, and vintage jewelry.
